DIRECTED BY: Luk Perceval

Macbeth, the first play in Russia directed by the world-renowned Belgian director, Luk Perceval, was first performed in St. Petersburg by the company of the Baltic House Festival Theatre, involving excellent Russian actors, on May 30th 2014. This special performance was well received by the critics. The renowned co-producers of the director: the set designer, the choreographer, the composer – who also come from Germany – played their part in making possible the success. Perceval’s first Russian performance was amazing, a hypnotic sight of the passionate relationship between man and woman. The director has never presented Macbeth’s character from this point of view. The intimate love connection between man and woman, which is considered as taboo and is unpredictable, plays a key role in the tragedy. The love connection, which is powered by deep feelings at first, passes away fast later. Especially if also a third party steps in … In the play, this third party is the power. The lust for power, which will only be an attempt for the man to fill the vacuum created by the emptiness of a relationship. Then he tries to replace the only person who is important to him by the crowds of a million people subordinated to his power and thereby he destines himself to fail.

William Shakespeare: Hamlet 24

PIOTR KONDRAT: HAMLET

Performed by: Piotr Kondrat (PL)

In this production, the excellent Polish actor, Piotr Kondrat plays the part of Hamlet in a spectacular one-person play. Kondrat excellently uses the opportunities provided by the space. Regardless of whether he plays anywhere round the castle, on the walls or in front of an altar, his deep baritone voice and his acrobatic motion fascinate the audience.

The spectators will witness how Hamlet invokes the spirits of those people who he loved and the spirits of those people who he hated in his life. Expressing the doubts inherent in his personality, the phantoms in his imagination. He reveals the secret pain of his delicate soul, which was caused by the failure to revenge his father’s murder and by the loss of his mother. Presenting how he became a misanthrope, how the former classmates became spies, how Rosencrantz and Guildenstern were thwarted, how love was refused and how he got to the famous finding: “The time is out of joint”

The Globe Theatre from London has started an international tour on this occasion. The play directed by Max Webster was first presented in London on April 11th and it had a great success. The company arrives in Gyula as a part of their tour through Germany and Austria. This production presented with the great performance of actors, a lot of music and humour has been graded as a five-star performance by many critics. Max Webster is a talented young director, whose works have been recognised by the audience as well as the professional press. His latest direction, the comedy “Much ado About Nothing” is eagerly awaited by the critics and the audience.

Claudio loves Hero, Hero loves Claudio and seemingly nothing can rive the lovers from each other. Claudio’s friend, Benedetto loves Beatrice and Beatrice loves Benedetto, too, but they are too proud to admit it to each other. Only the intrigues and the plots can bring the two lovers together. Benedetto can only prove Beatrice his true love by killing his friend. Shakespeare’s wittiest; most enchanting and most lovable couple can be seen in this comedy. This piece of work is full of love, plots, trickeries and brilliant word fights.
